Job Summary
The Eastman Chair of Business Leadership was established to support the development of leadership opportunities in the College of Business and Technology and the community.
The Chair will serve as a faculty member for the Department of Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the University’s mission by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing leadership education programs for internal and external audiences, and researching/publishing in the area of leadership.
The Chair will report to the Chair of the Department of Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain and also work with the Dean on external engagement opportunities. Candidates for this 12-month position should qualify for a tenure track/tenured faculty position OR be individuals who have made contributions to fields related to the appointment and qualify for a professor of practice position. The Chair must possess credentials and/or experience that merit appointment in the area of leadership and organizational behavior. Experience in building relationships within and among organizations is required, with experience in academic/business partnerships preferred. A portion of the compensation for this position will have an at-risk component funded by the revenue-generating activities of the Chair. For the first two years of employment, the at-risk portion will be guaranteed to allow the Chair time to build their external activity portfolio.

The College of Business and Technology (CBAT) at East Tennessee State University is AACSB accredited. The CBAT employs approximately 100 full-time faculty members and serves over 2800 students. Undergraduate concentrations include accounting, computing, digital media, economics and finance, engineering, engineering technology, surveying, interior architecture, management, marketing, supply chain, and military science. Graduate programs include an MBA, an MS degree in Digital Marketing, an MFA in Digital Media, and MS degrees in Technology, Computer Science, and, Information Systems.

Required Qualifications
Qualification to be considered as a tenure track/tenured faculty
- Terminal degree in the field relevant to the requirements of the position.
- Experience in teaching, research, and service appropriate for qualification as a tenured/tenure track faculty member.
Qualification to be considered as a Professor of Practice
- 20+ years of professional leadership experience in areas relevant to the position’s requirements.
- Master’s degree
- Experience developing and building relationships among organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in building academic/business partnerships.
- Engaged in leadership throughout the community
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Expertise in strategic management and business analytics
