DeSales University’s Division of Performing Arts seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dance. A terminal degree in Dance (M.F.A. or Ph.D.) is required. Salary is commensurate with experience, plus a strong benefits package. Appointment to begin August 2020.
Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester, directing concerts, serving on departmental and university committees, advising students, and developing and sustaining active artistic/research involvement. The ideal candidate will teach Dance on Camera, all levels of ballet or modern dance, and develop service learning and community outreach initiatives within the department. The ability to teach in any of the following areas is desirable: dance composition, dance pedagogy, partnering, and Bartenieff fundamentals. The ideal candidate will also support and promote diversity in the Dance Department.
DeSales University’s Dance Department offers a BA degree in Dance with 60 majors and 3 fulltime faculty members. The department is committed to producing student choreographic work each semester in addition to faculty and professional guest artist work annually. Our practical and theoretical dance curriculum is supplemented by diverse weekly master classes with professional artists from New York, Philadelphia, and beyond. There is also opportunity for collaboration with the Theatre and TV/Film departments within the Division of Performing Arts.
