Position Overview

He Pūkenga ā Toi Pūoro
Te Rewa o Puanga is recruiting a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Game Production to support our diverse student cohorts who are seeking to make a sustainable careers for themselves in the game industry and wider screen sector. This role will attract someone active and experienced in the industry who can broaden our students’ creative outlook and engage them with new and diverse perspectives on game development and production. They will have an ability to teach game development courses and contribute to other related courses within the Bachelor of Screen Arts with Honours (BSA Hons). The BSA (Hons) is an evolution of the highly successful Bachelor of Creative Media Production. The position requires acumen and excitement for innovative tertiary curriculum development and course leadership.

It is suitable to someone who will embrace ākonga relationships with both students and colleagues. The successful candidate will have a post-graduate qualification, and/or significant industry experience. They will value originality and difference, diversity and inclusion, and be passionate about guiding the next generation of game developers.

This is a three-year fixed term appointment.

Te Rewa o Puanga was established to respond to New Zealand’s growth and internationally recognised reputation for innovation and creativity in both screen arts and music. It is staffed by internationally acclaimed and award-winning practitioners and is equipped with state of the art facilities.

The School delivers two undergraduate degree programmes, the BSA(Hons) and the Bachelor of Commercial Music. The BSA(Hons) offers majors in Animation, Factual Production, Film Production, Game Development, Immersive Media, Media Technology and Visual Effects. The Bachelor of Commercial Music offers majors in Music Practice, Music Technology and Music Industry.

The School also offers an Honours programme for Commercial Music as well as a Master of Creative Enterprise (MCE). The MCE is designed for students who are looking to apply professional strategies intrinsic to creative disciplines to develop and commercialise their practice.
