Description
The Department of Statistics and Data Sciences (SDS) at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking applications for one or more Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Instruction positions to begin in Fall 2023, subject to the availability of funding. SDS is the newest and fastest growing department in the College of Natural Sciences. The department is committed to providing high quality educational experiences in statistics and data science to students from across the university, in addition to those enrolled in one of our degree programs. While these open positions are not eligible for tenure, we hire with the intent that new professional faculty will become a lasting part of our community and are committed to supporting the professional development of all members of the SDS faculty.
The primary duty for these positions is teaching undergraduate courses. Teaching opportunities range from introductory statistics courses to advanced courses on probability, statistical inference, data science, statistical learning, etc. Opportunities for departmental leadership in instruction through course coordination duties and new course development are available for experienced instructors, as are opportunities for undergraduate student mentoring/advising.

Qualifications
Requ ired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science or related discipline
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related discipline
- Previous teaching experience and/or professional experience as a statistician, biostatistician, or data scientist
A candidate’s demonstrated experience in promoting diversity and inclusivity in the fields of statistics and data science will also be considered.
