Position Summary:
Willamette University invites applicants for a one-year (2023-2024) non-tenure-track full-time position in Environmental Science at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2023 and running through May 2024. Area of specialty is open but should be based within the social sciences.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will teach 6 courses per year and participate in departmental service and activities. The VAP will teach or co-teach multiple sections of ENVS 120: Social Systems and the Environment, as well as upper-division environmental science courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will have broad interdisciplinary training in an area that is flexible but may include: natural hazards, natural resources, urban ecology, marine science and policy, water resources, hydrology, agriculture, or energy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in an appropriate discipline, and an environmental focus. ABD with teaching experience considered.
• Must be able to reside in or primarily work in Oregon by the first day of employment. This is an in-person teaching position.
