The College of Arts and Sciences of the University of La Verne invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor of mathematics position in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, with the appointment beginning August, 2018.
The Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science is part of the Natural Science Division, within a college that stresses interdisciplinary approaches to education, community engagement, and values undergraduate research. The department has thirteen full-time faculty and is dedicated to providing solid and well-balanced instruction in a liberal arts context to a diverse student body.

Specific Duties:

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses such as general education offerings for non-majors, the standard calculus sequence, and a variety of upper division courses; assisting in modification and development of a new curriculum; providing academic advising; supervising undergraduate research projects; and continuing an active research program, ideally with the potential for student collaboration. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of teaching, research, and service at a liberal arts college and be committed to the mission and vision of the University.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in mathematics required (or awarded no later than August 15, 2018).

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants whose primary area of expertise is in Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Math Education, or Number Theory. Commitment to undergraduate teaching and evidence of scholarly activity is required.
