Job description

A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor is available in the Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in economics who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active program involving undergraduates. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2018/2019 academic year, August 27, 2018.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctorate in the area of economics by August 27, 2018.
  • The successful candidate must exhibit a willingness and ability to teach the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics and to promote inclusiveness and diversity in the classroom, the department, and the university community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of successful university teaching, willingness to teach 300 level economics courses in applied econometrics, international economics, or investments.

DUTIES: Teach courses in the Department of Economics based on program needs and in accordance with specialization; participate in research and scholarly activities; [develop and/or maintain a scholarly research agenda;] provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, University and profession.

DEPARTMENT: The Department of Economics consists of seven full-time faculty. It has roughly 120 students majoring and another 20 minoring in three programs.
