The Department of Integrative Physiology is welcoming applications for a 100% Non-Tenure Track Instructor position to teach lower-and upper-division scientific writing courses tailored to undergraduate majors in Integrative Physiology. This is an academic year appointment with the option to teach summer courses for an additional stipend.
Who We Are
Faculty roster for the Department of Integrative Physiology includes 23 tenured and tenure-eligible faculty and 9 instructors. The department offers BA, MS, and PhD degrees in integrative physiology. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Design curriculum, teach courses, coach students, and comment on assignments.
- Serve as faculty mentor to students doing independent studies or internships.
- May also teach a graduate-level course and assist graduate students with writing projects.
- Perform department service as assigned.

What We Require
- Minimum education at the level of a Master’s Degree in Physiology or a closely related field.
- Minimum of two semesters of teaching. This experience could be gained during the course of a graduate program (as a teaching assistant).
What You Will Need
- Commitment to student learning.
- Aility to manage course activities and classroom structure so as to help diverse students develop their writing process and written products.
- Thorough and explicit knowledge of grammar, grammatical vocabulary, style rules, and principles of skillful composition.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback (substance and details) in written drafts to assist students in the revision process.
What We Would Like You To Have
- Professional understanding of scientific thinking, publishing, and writing for specific purposes and audiences; either current knowledge of the science related to physiology, or an aptitude for and willingness to learn the specifics.
