Organizational Summary:

The MedE Department is a new institutional priority initiative, with an initial starting group of core faculty members and offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering. The department currently hosts a newly initiated undergraduate degree in BME, 40 masters, and 25 full time BME doctoral students. Its faculty has strong collaborations with all other departments in the College of Engineering, the Colleges of Medicine, Behavioral & Community Sciences; CAMLS and Moffitt Cancer Center- a top 20 US Cancer Ctr. The Department also has ties with various centers and institutes such as the Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, and with organizations outside USF, such as Tampa General Hospital, and James A. Positions Summary:

The Department of Medical Engineering (MedE) at the University of South Florida invites applications for Instructor positions starting in Fall 2017/January 2018. Teaching and research interests of the applicants should intersect with the departmental core thrusts that include: cardiac engineering, neuroengineering, aging/Alzheimer’s, biomedical imaging, nanotechnology, drug delivery, aging, sensory systems and device and drug testing. Preferred qualifications include expertise in one or more of these core areas to integrate with departmental research goals and student success. Candidates with relevant industrial experience are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in an area of engineering related to biomedical engineering (BME) or be in a position to clearly demonstrate earning such degree before the beginning of January 2018.


Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful candidates will be expected to establish a strong commitment to student success through undergraduate and graduate teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, ABET accreditation, and service to the department/college/university. Candidates are expected to have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in teams, integrate education and service activities, and engage in professional societies. Candidates must be committed to diversity among students, faculty and staff.
