Position Summary

The Chao Center for Asian Studies (CCAS) at Rice University in Houston, Texas is currently accepting applications for two one-year postdoctoral fellowship positions in Transnational Asian Studies to begin July 1, 2018. We are particularly looking for scholars whose research encompasses themes of non-violence, truth, and freedom.

We are also interested in applicants who can offer an insightful teaching of Asian Studies methodology. The two appointees will offer one class on Asian Studies methodology together in Spring 2019.

The annual stipend is $50,000, with an additional $5,000 for research and travel expenses and a one-time relocation allowance of $3,000. This is a one-year, non-renewable position, and we intend to appoint two fellows in this position.

Education Required: PhD or other Doctoral Degree

Applicants must have a PhD degree in hand by the time of appointment in the field of Asian studies, anthropology, or sociology.
