Job description

The Department of Anthropology is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor for the 2018-2019 academic year, beginning August 13, 2018. The teaching assignment includes four courses per semester. Two sections will be ANTH 1050 (Global Understanding) a technology-based, interactive cultural anthropology course that involves linking live-time via video-conferencing and chat with students in three other cultures during the semester. Enrollment is limited to 12 students and classes are either taught at 8 or 9 a.m. or in the evenings. Two sections will be ANTH 1000 (Introduction to Anthropology), which covers biological anthropology, archaeology and cultural anthropology at the introductory level and carries general education credits in social science. Sections are normally 100-120 students. Appropriate service to the university and profession is also expected. Position may possibly be renewed in subsequent years. The successful candidate will assimilate information, reason and communicate effectively with students and colleagues within the US and in other countries, use videoconferencing and chat technologies as well as the Blackboard course management system, make conclusions relating to grades and level of student achievement, and meet classes regularly and perform all tasks necessary for carrying out normal instructional activities.

Minimum Education/Experience:

PhD in Anthropology is required. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
