The School of Art, Design, and Art History at James Madison University is accepting applications for a one-year, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor of Architectural Design. Position begins August 2018.
This is a 9-month position, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach architectural design studios, history, theory, materials and methods of contemporary architectural design. These courses utilize skills ranging from research, hand-drawing, CAD/BIM software, digital fabrication, and analog with a concentration on hybrid techniques. Knowledge of contemporary issues/practices in architectural design is essential.
Candidates should hold an M.Arch, PhD, or equivalent international terminal degree in architecture or closely related discipline; with evidence of an active scholarly and/or design practice We are seeking someone who is both versatile with technology and contemporary theory. Teaching experience in architectural design strongly preferred. We seek candidates who wish to participate in a collaborative community that fosters independent thought and creativity, embraces the diversity of cultural expression, and cultivates excellence in the making and understanding of architectural design. In order to participate in our collaborative community, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be on campus and available to students four days per week during the academic year.
Pay Rate: Commensurate with Experience
