Responsibilities
The Tift College of Education at Mercer University invites applicants for the position of Visiting Faculty of Middle Grades/Secondary Education, a nine-month position based in Atlanta, GA to begin in August 2018. Rank to be determined. This is a one-year, visiting appointment with the possibility of extension. Primary responsibilities will include teaching in the Middle Grades and Secondary Master of Arts in Teaching programs. Additional responsibilities include teaching other graduate level courses within the College; participating on committees as assigned; engaging in scholarly research; contributing to a dynamic and growing learning community through effective collaboration with students, faculty, and staff; and modeling and encouraging students to develop the professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions of a Transforming Educator.

Qualifications
An earned doctorate in education or a related field from an accredited university/college (completed by August 2018) with at least three years of successful middle grades/secondary teaching experience is required. Must have evidence of effective communication, interpersonal, and technology skills. Experience working with teachers and the potential to conduct research and publish results of scholarly activities are also required.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: expertise in social studies; prior experience teaching at the graduate level; excellent writing and oral communication skills; strong evidence of potential for scholarly productivity; evidence of professional service to the field; and experiences with diverse school populations.
