The Department of English seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position beginning August 1, 2025. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.
The Department of English at Valdosta State University seeks a tenure-track faculty member in Technical and Professional Writing. While the area of specialization is open, this faculty member will be responsible for teaching courses ranging from first-year writing to graduate level seminars in the discipline in both face to face and online settings. This faculty member will also be responsible for partnering with local businesses and organizations in furthering the university’s mission of experiential learning, service learning, and internships. Further, we are particularly interested in applicants who can help diversify our offerings and contribute to the development of an interdisciplinary certificate in Artificial Intelligence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching a four-course load during the academic year (Fall and Spring semester) in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online), maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate in English
- Focus in Rhetoric and Composition
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing and teaching online courses
- Teaching and/or research interests in A.I.
- A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
- A record of mentoring students
