Oregon Tech is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the department of Natural Science. This is a 9-month, full-time position located on the Oregon Tech campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The successful applicant is expected to include introductory and general chemistry courses for allied health, environmental sciences, and engineering majors. Applicants must have superior communication skills, a strong commitment to supporting student success, and dedication to high-quality instruction and undergraduate research. The faculty member will become involved with proactive academic advising within our department; institutional service may include serving on university committees and participation in departmental initiatives. As a faculty member, they will collaborate productively with other faculty in the chemistry group, and support continuous program assessment and improvement. While the core responsibility of this position is excellent teaching, undergraduate research and scholarly activity are also expected. The faculty member will engage students in undergraduate research projects in their area of expertise, adding to Oregon Tech’s growing culture of student research engagement.

Required: An earned doctoral degree in chemistry, chemistry education, or a closely related field (ABD will be considered). And one or more years of past teaching experience.

Preferred:  Demonstrated excellence in instruction through past teaching experience. And a background that complements existing strengths in the B.S. Environmental Sciences and/or B.S. Biology-Health Sciences programs within the department.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose background intersects with environmental sciences, biological sciences or engineering, and who have the capabilities and interest in mentoring undergraduate research projects.
