Albizu University is seeking an innovative and visionary Dean of Academic Affairs to spearhead the development and expansion of the university’s distinctive academic programs. The Dean will drive initiatives to grow Albizu’s niche programs, integrating cultural and psychological expertise with cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. This role also includes overseeing the design of credit and non-credit certificate programs, stackable credentials, and specialized healthcare tracks, including nursing program variations, tailored to community needs and workforce demands. The Dean of Academic Affairs will lead research and environmental scanning efforts to ensure program relevance and advance Albizu’s dedication to culturally competent education.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental scanning and market research to identify trends and potential growth areas that align with Albizu’s niche academic strengths, with a special focus on new and interdisciplinary fields, such as integrating psychology and cultural studies with AI and cyber technologies.
- Develop new programs, including nursing variations, credit and non-credit certificates, and stackable credentials that are either standalone or combined with Albizu’s signature programs to address workforce needs.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry experts to create curriculum frameworks that reflect Albizu’s mission and commitment to serving diverse populations through culturally aware, interdisciplinary education.
- Provide leadership and direction to academic departments, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Support faculty development by promoting the integration of technology and data-driven approaches to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Oversee academic policies, program assessment, and accreditation standards to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
- Lead the Continuing Education division, ensuring relevant offerings that foster lifelong learning and support professional development for local and regional communities.
- Develop flexible, stackable certificates that provide alternative pathways to credentials, aligning with community needs and labor market demands.
- Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations, technology firms, and community organizations to develop programs and create hands-on learning opportunities, internships, and job placements for students.
- Represent Albizu University in external settings, including conferences and professional associations, to enhance the institution’s visibility and align programs with industry needs and trends.
- Develop and manage budgets for the Academic Affairs division, aligning resources with strategic priorities and program growth goals.
- Coordinate with the Registrar, Admissions, and Student Services to enhance academic operations and ensure smooth program implementation and student support.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree, (Doctorate preferred), in relevant field such as Higher Education Leadership, Psychology, Education, Health Sciences, Nursing, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of experience in higher education administration with a proven track record in academic program development and curriculum management.
- Demonstrated experience in expanding niche or interdisciplinary programs and in fields related to health sciences, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or other emerging technologies.
- Expertise in serving diverse and multilingual populations and incorporating culturally competent approaches into curriculum design.
