Position Overview:

Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) School of Health Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time position in Human Genetics, with a specialty in clinical genetic counseling to support the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) and Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling Program (MSGC). This is a joint position, with 80% time dedicated to service at PVHMC and 20% time dedicated to KGI MSGC programmatic support. We seek a dynamic individual dedicated to clinical genetic counseling services and innovative and effective program involvement to prepare graduates to be leaders in the rapidly evolving field of human genetics/genomics.

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program; certification in Genetic Counseling from the ABGC or ABMGG; at least three years’ experience in clinical genetics or genomics that includes teaching, clinical supervision, and/or research. Experience in cancer genetics, pharmacogenomics, or cardiogenetics is preferred. Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required. California state licensure is required.

  • Further develop, integrate and maintain a clinical practice at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center
  • Provide comprehensive genetics consultation and services to individuals and families
  • Act as a genetics educational resource for PVHMC and referring providers
  • Provide ongoing training and supervision for KGI MSGC student rotations (minimum of 2 students per rotation)
  • Attend MSGC Advisory Board meetings and serve on MSGC committees
  • Participate in MSGC admission activities
  • Provide lectures in MSGC courses
  • Participate and/or advise MSGC students in research capstone projects, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with strategic planning/implementation and/or development of a clinical practice

Hours, Classification, and Status:

This is a Faculty, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.

The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Hours may vary due to the needs of the College or department.

Salary range: $110,000 – $115,000 annualized. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with interruptions; attention to details with emphasis on accuracy; capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Standing for extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.

Ability to drive locally. Occasionally, will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time at activities/events on and off-campus.
