McNeese State University invites applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Concentration, in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This is an in-person, full-time, 9–month, tenure-track, unclassified position. The on-campus appointment will begin in August 2025.

Our faculty seeks enthusiastic candidates who share our commitment to collaboration within our Department of Psychology and Counseling and on-campus master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International Accreditation Board (ABAI).

DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE: The Department of Psychology and Counseling at McNeese State University seeks to hire one full-time tenure-track faculty member in its ABAI accredited master’s program in ABA. The successful candidate will join two other ABA faculty in an10-member department housed in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

The program has an onsite ABA clinic and pediatric feeding program which supports our student internships, and strong collaboration with faculty in the Counseling programs. Faculty often receive financial support for research and teaching initiatives through the college and university endowed professor funds and technology enhancement awards. Conference travel is encouraged and supported by departmental funding.

Our program is enthusiastic about teaching and student research with a breadth of ABA courses offered within the curriculum and a year-long research sequence that culminates in publication-quality research for all students. Faculty enjoy flexible schedules that include both face-to-face instruction and online teaching along with optional summer teaching opportunities. Qualified candidates must hold certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field with interest and training in applied behavior analysis. The ideal candidates will also value collaboration, in-person teaching, evidence-based practice, and demonstrate the ability to establish an active line of research upon hire. ABD candidates will also be happily considered.

Our on-campus graduate program in ABA is currently nationally accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International Accreditation Board (ABAI) ® with an approved Verified Course Sequence (VCS). The department is committed to the continued ABAI accreditation of the master’s degree in ABA.

POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervision of student research (e.g., theses and other projects), supervision (e.g., practicum/internship) of students enrolled in our Association for Behavior Analysis International Accreditation Board (ABAI) accredited master’s concentration in ABA, university and community service, advising, modeling ethical behavior, and research/scholarship. Assistant Professors will work closely with students and faculty in the Department of Psychology and Counseling. The expectation is that the majority of this work will be conducted in-person.

Primary duties are centered around teaching and involvement in our ABA graduate concentration. Opportunities for publication quality research and collaboration with our skilled clinical staff are also available within the program via our on-site ABA clinic. Successful candidates are expected to behave in accordance with the overall mission and philosophy of our University and graduate program.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Required:

  • Doctorate in applied behavior analysis, behavior analysis, psychology, or a closely related discipline (or eligibility from accredited institution by the time of appointment)
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by time of appointment. Teaching experience in behavior analytic content at either the undergraduate or graduate level

Preferred:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctoral (BCBA-D) certification (or eligibility by time of appointment)
  • In-person teaching experience in behavior analytic content at both the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Teaching experience in online or web-hybrid course delivery clinical training and experience in ABA settings
