Typical Duties

  1. Teach construction courses and assess students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in the ?eld per industry standards and college requirements.
  2. Demonstrate industry best practices related to the construction trades in a safe and e?ective manner to students of all ages.
  3. Develop, implement and assess course activities relevant to the curriculum.
  4. Develop program curriculum and assist in related program development.
  5. Communicate with students, colleagues, supervisors, and leadership in an e?ective and timely manner.
  6. Possess, or be able to attain, OSHA trainer certi?cation once employed in order to teach OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 courses.
  7. Possess, or be able to attain, NCCER certi?ed trainer qualifications.
  8. Manage and maintain program inventory equipment, tools and supplies.
  9. Perform necessary college-required documentation and record keeping via a computer-based system.
  10. Perform physically exerting work at a medium level.
  11. Plan and participate in program promoting events to potential students and community partners in order to assist in the development of career pathways, including, but not limited to, apprenticeships, job shadowing, internships and other on-the-job activities.
  12. Serve as an advocate and representative of the Construction Area of Interest and of Mohave College as a whole.
  13. Utilize appropriate levels of instructional technology, including the college learning management system, email, and the student information system, for the advisement and support of students and the college community.
  14. Perform other duties, as assigned, related to the effective operation and function of daily college activities.

Qualifications

Top candidates for this position will possess three or more of the following qualifying options. Candidates with only one or two qualifying options are still encouraged to apply and will receive consideration.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of documentable experience managing others in the construction field
  • Associate Degree or higher in Residential Construction, Construction Management or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years documented work experience in construction trades that will enable the selected candidate to teach the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the (construction safety, framing, finish carpentry, concrete forms, basic electrical, basic plumbing, basic roofing) trades to others.
