Seven of the ten Baker School of Business and Technology programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP is dedicated to promoting continuous improvement in the practice of business in every industry worldwide.

The Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing department develops students’ creative, intellectual, technological and analytical capabilities through the program and associated courses, which cross-pollinate the aesthetics of cosmetics and fragrance with business outcomes. The program is committed to preparing students for excellence in professional, managerial and support positions in the cosmetics, fragrance and related industries. The range of alumni careers includes but is not limited to product development, product management, marketing, global brand management, content creation, fragrance evaluation, laboratory management, trend forecasting for beauty, and consumer insights.

 

Job Description:

The Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology seeks a dedicated full-time faculty member with a deep understanding of the cosmetics and fragrance industry and a commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student success.

The candidate will have excellent professional credentials and display a passion for the industry with the ability to convey this excitement to students at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with proven business competencies, strong technical product development skills, and a working understanding of its relationship to marketing. Core responsibilities for the position include teaching courses within the program, mentoring students, and overseeing the college’s cosmetics and fragrance laboratory, including oversight of its inventory, initiating updates to ingredients and equipment, and working closely with the laboratory technician to ensure optimum functioning of the lab.

The new faculty member will play a key role in supporting the school and department’s strategic initiatives, developing program curriculum, and maintaining the laboratory operations to bring innovative learning experiences into the classroom. Additional responsibilities include advising students, promoting the academic program, supporting adjuncts, engaging alumni and advisory board members, attending industry events, and building and sustaining partnerships. The new faculty member will serve on department, school, and college-wide committees, support accreditation, and participate in administrative duties and special projects as required.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • 10 years of professional experience in the cosmetics and fragrance field.
  • The candidate will be required to obtain a master’s degree within 3 years of their appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or master’s degree in a related field, or enrolled in a master’s degree program, in progress, to completion.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level.

Salary

The final starting salary and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience; Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Salary Schedules pgs. 73-74.

Instructor: $69,346.37 – $80,793.82

Assistant Professor: $80,736.40 – $118,984.88

Associate Professor: $94,498.31 – $142,271.78

Professor: $115,232.32 – $173,403.37

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.
