Western Michigan University’s College of Education and Human Development invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Nutrition and Dietetics and the director of the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited didactic program in nutrition and dietetics (DPD). WMU’s College of Education located in Kalamazoo, MI is a diverse and vibrant institution of professional education, preparing individuals for leadership in their fields. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has placed WMU as one of the doctoral universities with high research activity.

Major Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses, including community nutrition, foodservice management, and food science.
  • Actively seek external funding to support research and scholarly activities.
  • Conduct research and publish data in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Manage all aspects of the Didactic Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (DPD) accreditation, including curriculum development and revisions, program evaluation, and student records in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards1.
  • Collaborate with the College marketing staff to promote the program.
  • Supervise research work of master’s level students.
  • Coordinate undergraduate experiential service-learning program.
  • Serve on department, college and university committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate or ABD in nutrition, public health, food service management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential is required.
  • Minimum of three years professional experience post credentialing.
  • Evidence of successful teaching and research experience.
  • Strong classroom and interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:

Prior experience teaching food service management and food science courses.
