We place a strong emphasis on experiential learning and encourage faculty to develop and maintain a robust research agenda to engage and support student Independent Studies and contribute to their fields in the geosciences. The department maintains internal funds and analytical facilities to support student-faculty research along with a full-time technician who provides logistical support. Courses in the ESCI department attract a particularly diverse group of students, and the department is highly engaged in the College’s STEM success initiative, with our faculty regularly contributing to these programs. All tenure-track faculty are expected to teach in the college’s First-Year Seminar program on a regular rotation. This position requires a Ph.D. or ABD in Earth Sciences or a related field.
