Full-time, nine month, tenure track Assistant Professor. Teach studio voice. Excellence in teaching is expected — both in the classroom and in mentoring students outside the classroom. Other duties may include, but are not limited to: directing within the opera program, teaching song literature, pedagogy, and/or diction classes, serving on graduate committees, supervising independent study projects as appropriate to appointee’s qualifications, and additional assignments to meet departmental needs. As part of a normal workload the candidate may be asked to teach online courses. All faculty are expected to be active in recruitment in their area as well as the entire department, in research/creative scholarship, and in service to the department, college, university, and beyond. Appointment begins August 22, 2026.
Doctorate in vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, or similar, demonstrated excellence in teaching, research/creative scholarship is required. ABD considered. Experience teaching and directing opera preferred. Experience teaching in the areas of vocal diction, pedagogy and song literature preferred.

The Department of Music offers Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education, Music Performance, a Bachelor of Musical Arts, and a Bachelor of Science with specialization in Industry and Technology. Master of Music degrees are offered in Music Education, Music Performance, Music Literature, and the History of Musical Instruments.
