RANK: Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor

ABOUT THE POSITION: This position is for a 9-month clinical assistant or clinical associate professor who actively participates in activities and tactics that enhance the mission and vision of the College of Nursing, including teaching, service, scholarship, and recruitment/retention of students. The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation of medical-surgical nursing experience to the role. A minimum of two years of clinical practice in a hospital-based medical-surgical setting is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in direct patient care, strong clinical judgement skills, and a commitment to mentoring the next generation of nurses. Experience with electronic health records and interdisciplinary teamwork is essential, as the successful candidate will guide students through the development of core competencies in the classroom, simulation lab, and clinical environments. An earned doctoral degree (DNP, EdD, or PhD) is required for this position. Candidates who wish to obtain the Clinical Associate Professor rank should have evidence of regional or national presentations and at least one publication per year for a consistent period of time.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The College offers pre-licensure BSN, accelerated BSN, ADN to BSN, ADN to MSN, MSN tracks in nursing administration, education, and nurse practitioner tracks in family and adult-gerontological acute care, post-graduate certificates, and DNP programs. The College of Nursing also offers a Joint Nursing Science Ph.D. program with the University of Alabama. The College’s total fall 2022 enrollment was just under 1,000 students across the degree programs. Extensive distance education programs are offered. The College of Nursing currently cooperates with more than 1300 sites for clinical education. All programs provide opportunities to make a difference in healthcare delivery, teaching, and evidence-based practice or research.
