Job description

The College of Idaho invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Music with a specialty in choral conducting to begin August 2026. We seek candidates who share the College’s commitment to creating an inclusive academic community through their teaching, recruiting, mentoring, scholarly activity, and service.

Primary activities include directing the general College of Idaho Chorale and select Chamber Singers. Additional duties include teaching conducting and music education courses and may include teaching private voice lessons. The successful candidate will create performance programs that are both artistic and educational. The candidate will also be expected to engage in outreach and recruitment in local schools and the community.

Qualifications

A terminal degree (DMA, PhD, or EdD) in choral conducting or music education is required (ABD considered). Preference will be given to candidates with college- or secondary-level teaching and conducting experience. Additional preferences include experience as a vocal teacher and performer, piano skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a passion for liberal-arts education

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.
