Location: Hillsdale, Michigan

The Chemistry Department at Hillsdale College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in chemistry (open discipline) to begin in August 2026.

This position requires demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to research at the undergraduate level. The candidate must also be an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills, having the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds. This position will involve teaching general chemistry, chemistry for nonmajors, inorganic and/or organic chemistry. Area of expertise is open depending on the candidate’s interests.  The candidate is expected to pursue a vibrant research program centered on the undergraduate, and mentor undergraduates through a final senior research thesis.

Hillsdale has a thriving, collegial, ACS-approved chemistry program with outstanding students and facilities.  The department currently consists of seven full-time Ph.D. faculty and one Ph.D. staff member. Each year we graduate 20-30 majors in chemistry and biochemistry.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or A.B.D. in chemistry is required.
