Job Description
The School of Music invites academic applications in Computer Music. We are seeking a forward-thinking scholar-practitioner with expertise in computer music, music production, film or game music composition. Candidates with a strong background in artificial intelligence (AI) applications in music will be given priority consideration.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer music, music production, film or game music composition, and related areas;
- Develop and deliver courses that incorporate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and its applications in music;
- Conduct research and creative projects in computer music, focusing on areas such as AI in music, algorithmic composition, sound design, or interactive systems;
- Mentor students and supervise their projects and theses;
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to foster innovative approaches in music and technology;
- Contribute to curriculum development and the ongoing growth of the music program;
- Maintain a strong national and international profile of research, creative activity, and scholarship.
Qualification Requirements
Required:
- A terminal degree (Ph.D., DMA, or equivalent) in computer music, music technology, composition, or a closely related field;
- A demonstrated record of creative and/or scholarly achievement in computer music, music production, film or game music;
- Proficiency in relevant software, programming languages, and hardware for computer music, music production, and sound design;
- Evidence of effective teaching at the university level.
Preferred:
- Expertise in artificial intelligence and its integration into music composition and production.
- Professional experience in film or game music composition or scoring.
- Experience with interdisciplinary research or creative collaborations.
