Job Description

The School of Music invites academic applications in Computer Music. We are seeking a forward-thinking scholar-practitioner with expertise in computer music, music production, film or game music composition. Candidates with a strong background in artificial intelligence (AI) applications in music will be given priority consideration.

  1. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer music, music production, film or game music composition, and related areas;
  2. Develop and deliver courses that incorporate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and its applications in music;
  3. Conduct research and creative projects in computer music, focusing on areas such as AI in music, algorithmic composition, sound design, or interactive systems;
  4. Mentor students and supervise their projects and theses;
  5. Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to foster innovative approaches in music and technology;
  6. Contribute to curriculum development and the ongoing growth of the music program;
  7. Maintain a strong national and international profile of research, creative activity, and scholarship.

Qualification Requirements

Required:

  1. A terminal degree (Ph.D., DMA, or equivalent) in computer music, music technology, composition, or a closely related field;
  2. A demonstrated record of creative and/or scholarly achievement in computer music, music production, film or game music;
  3. Proficiency in relevant software, programming languages, and hardware for computer music, music production, and sound design;
  4. Evidence of effective teaching at the university level.

Preferred:

  1. Expertise in artificial intelligence and its integration into music composition and production.
  2. Professional experience in film or game music composition or scoring.
  3. Experience with interdisciplinary research or creative collaborations.
