Job description

The Stanford Chemistry Department invites applications for a Ph.D.-level Lecturer position to begin September 1, 2026 to join a team of 4 other Lecturers in the Department. The candidate should have a strong background in any area of chemistry and a passion for teaching. This position is a full-time, 9-month, fixed-term, full-benefit appointment, with the possibility of optional summer teaching opportunities. The initial appointment is for 2 years. The teaching duties vary quarterly between instructing independent laboratories to co-instructing in an integrated lecture/laboratory course with a faculty member, generally within the general, organic, and bio-chemistry courses. As the department has moved toward active learning, the ideal candidate will also be involved in developing and evaluating new active learning materials. In addition to instruction, the candidate will be responsible for evolving laboratory exercises, mentoring course teaching assistants, and participating in Department committees, as appropriate.

The expected pay range for this position is $95,220 to $99,560 per annum.
