The Conway Medical Center College of Health and Human Performance at Coastal Carolina University, Department of Recreation and Sport Management, announces one (1) full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2026.

The Recreation and Sport Management department seeks highly qualified individuals who will play integral roles in the continued growth and development of rapidly expanding programs in recreation and sport management. Candidates must possess an earned Doctorate in Recreation, Sport Management, or highly related discipline (ABD considered); excellence in teaching, evidence of scholarly productivity; and community/public engagement. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, undergraduate/graduate student mentoring undergraduate/graduate student research, establishing a record of scholarship and professional service/outreach, commitment to program assessment and accreditation, and collaborating with related academic programs. In addition, successful candidates should demonstrate research and teaching expertise in the following areas, respectively:
Sport Marketing, Sales, Sport Analytics, Leadership, Sport Consumer Behavior, or related areas.

Job Duty

  • Teaches students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or studio.
  • Prepares content, syllabi, and University Moodle/curricular site for each course and/or lab assigned each semester. Communicates to students after reviewing assignments. Calculates and assigns grades (e.g., mid-term and final) through established procedures listed in the Faculty Manual and University catalog. Tracks and reports absences as directed by the Office of the Registrar.
  • Conducts research to create and add to knowledge in a field or produces creative work. Trains students in related research techniques and in creative production.
  • Posts and holds regular office hours each week per College and University guidelines. Engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings, ceremonies, events and scholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual.
  • Performs other departmental needs as assigned.
