The Position
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Financial Aid & Student Services provides leadership and oversight to key student support functions that promotes and facilitates the student’s educational pursuit through access, equity, compliance, retention, and degree completion. This position is responsible for the oversight of Financial Aid, Athletics, Student Engagement, and Student Services. The AVP ensures all units operate with a student-centered philosophy, comply with federal and state regulations, and operate in alignment with the College’s mission, vision, and values. This leader fosters a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation to advance student success.

What You Will Do
- Serves as a leader within the Student Affairs division, providing strategic oversight of student support services; Financial Aid, Student Services, Athletics, and Student Engagement.
- Lead initiatives to enhance student enrollment, retention, and engagement through data-informed decisions, technology integration, and cross campus collaborations. Champion a student-centered approach by promoting exceptional customer service and delivering a positive, supportive experience for all students throughout their interactions with Financial Aid and Student Services departments, fostering trust, accessibility, and responsiveness.
- Provides direct leadership and oversight for all areas of financial aid administration. Responsible for the quality, integrity, and compliance of student financial aid. Monitor, interpret, and provide timely updates regarding federal and state student financial aid regulations.
- Analyze the impact of new and/or revised regulations on prospective and enrolled students, institutional policies/procedures and budgets, and advise the administration of regulatory mandates/obligations and their impact.
- Lead and support the Executive Director of Student Services, aligning Student Conduct, Counseling & Student Development, and Disability Services to support student well-being, development, and student success.
- Provide oversight for Student Engagement and Athletics, ensuring a meaningful and enriching student experience across these verticals.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations for Title IV, state aid; oversee timely submission of required reports. Monitor the quality and accuracy of federal, state, and Veterans Affairs (VA) financial aid processing, ensuring timely communication with students and stakeholders, delivering high-quality customer service, and coordinating internal and external audits to maintain compliance and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage budgets for assigned areas, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with priorities and goals.
- Serve as a liaison with all stakeholders, including agencies, partners, community members, and committees.

The Successful Candidate Must Have
1. Master’s degree in higher education administration, educational leadership, student affairs, or related field.
2. Seven years of progressively more responsible financial aid and related experience in higher education, of which at least three years were in a Director or higher role that required exceptional customer service, interpersonal, written, and oral skills, and a demonstrated strategic use of the student information system to optimize departmental efficiency and effectiveness in processing and serving students.
3. Minimum of four years of demonstrated leadership experience and a proven track record as an empowering supervisor and team builder.
4. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and a student database platform requiring advanced computer, technical, and analytical skills; ability to review processes, analyze, and use data to recommend policy and process improvements.
