The Department of Operations and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Construction Management position. The anticipated start date is August 17, 2026.
The successful candidate will become part of an innovative and supportive community that prioritizes excellence in teaching and active student engagement. As a polytechnic university, we emphasize experiential learning by providing students with authentic as well as hands-on experiences in both classroom, laboratory, and industrial settings. Our program, with over 300 students, receives substantial support from alumni and major construction firms both regionally and nationally. Scholarly and service activities are supported by both internal and external grants and funds are available for professional development and student research and dissemination.

The Operations and Management (O&M) Department is housed in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Management. O&M primarily serves undergraduate majors in Management, Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Technology, Construction, and Packaging, as well as graduate majors in Training and Human Resources Development, Engineering, Risk Control and Management, and Operations and Supply Management. The department currently has 40 faculty/staff and offers more than 50 courses and 100 different sections each semester. Required Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in architecture by employment start date
- Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, March, MFA, etc.), or related fields, with 3 years of building industry experience by employment start date
OR
Master’s degree in construction management, or related fields, with 5 years of building industry experience by employment start date
- Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching with a commitment to student success
- Interest in advancing student learning in the area of construction management and in alignment with UW-Stout’s polytechnic tenets of applied learning and research, business and industry partnerships, and career focused education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional licensing or the ability to become licensed
- 3 years of combined teaching and/or industry training experience
