Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Innovation:
In alignment with Webster’s strategic priorities, collaborate with SOE Leadership Council and other constituents to develop and implement strategic goals focusing on:Continuous improvement of academic programs.
Development of new programs to enhance enrollment and opportunities for students.
Support for excellence in faculty scholarship and teaching.
* Assessment Leadership & Accreditation
Provide leadership for the School’s Assessment Office, ensuring all program and institutional evaluation processes meet the highest standards of quality and accountability.
Oversee the completion of national accreditation processes, state and federal reporting requirements, and university-level program assessment, aligning these responsibilities with Webster’s mission and strategic goals.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, data-informed decision making, and compliance with all accrediting and regulatory bodies through collaboration with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
Direct the redesign of school assessment processes to align program assessment tasks with accreditation requirements and institutional priorities.
Enhance operational efficiency, improve compliance with accreditation standards, and support the continuous improvement of all academic programs.
* Academic Innovation and Technology Integration
Provide leadership in the adoption and expansion of simulation-based learning, including oversight of the School of Education’s Mursion program.
Advance the integration of virtual classroom simulations into teacher preparation and professional development, ensuring alignment with best practices in instructional design and inclusive pedagogy.
Develop and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, schools, and industry to leverage simulation technologies for student recruitment, experiential learning, and workforce development.
Support faculty and staff in designing training opportunities that enhance preservice teachers’ instructional strategies, classroom management skills, and ability to foster inclusive and equitable learning environments.
* Continuing professional development and non-credit learning initiatives
Oversee the design and delivery of scalable professional learning opportunities, including workshops, institutes, micro-courses, and certificate programs that address emerging needs in education.
Ensure continuing education offerings align with the School of Education’s mission, institutional priorities, and accreditation standards.
Build and strengthen partnerships with schools, community organizations, and professional networks to expand access and relevance of programs.
Support faculty and staff in creating innovative, flexible learning experiences that serve diverse educators, leaders, and community professionals.
Establish processes for instructional design, marketing, enrollment, and program evaluation to ensure quality and sustainability.
Monitor program outcomes, including learner engagement, satisfaction, and impact, and use findings to inform continuous improvement.
Explore new revenue models and alternative funding streams to sustain and grow continuing professional development initiatives.
Serve as an advocate for lifelong learning and workforce development, positioning the School of Education as a leader in professional training and educational innovation.
Enrollment Pipeline Development & Community Engagement:
Oversee the Chelsea Center Teaching and Learning Cohort partnership, engaging high school juniors and seniors in dual credit/dual enrollment partnerships with Webster University.
Cultivate pathways for high school cadet teaching programs and bridge prospective high school students to Webster’s SOE programs.
Inclusive and Transformative Education Leadership
o Oversee and expand partnerships with schools, community organizations, and educational networks to design and deliver professional development focused on inclusive practices.
o Lead international training initiatives that provide educators and school leaders with high-quality training programs, combining in-person sessions, site visits, and online learning modules.
o Build and strengthen local, national, and international collaborations to advance systemic approaches to inclusive and transformative education and support the development of centers or networks dedicated to best practices in the field.
* External Engagement and Advancement
o Serve as the primary spokesperson for the SOE, expanding visibility and reputation regionally, nationally, and internationally.
o Build strong relationships with alums, community partners, school districts, community organizations, and employers to strengthen recognition of SOE graduates.
o Lead fundraising and alum engagement initiatives to support innovation in teacher preparation, inclusive education, and international partnerships.
o Expand the visibility and development of the School’s LIGHT Cooperative.
* Faculty and Staff Development
o Provide supervision, evaluation, and development opportunities for SOE chairs, faculty, and staff to foster professional growth and advance the School’s scholarly and teaching mission.
o Cultivate a culture of collegiality, creating opportunities for faculty collaboration on program development, academic excellence, and grant writing.
o Build community across disciplines within the SOE and collaborate with fellow deans on cross-college initiatives.
* Student Advocacy and Success
o Serve as a champion for SOE students and alums, expanding opportunities for them to demonstrate skills, connect with community partners, and transition into successful careers in education.
o Advance programs that promote equity, inclusivity, and access to high-quality teacher preparation locally and globally.
o Serve as advisor and mentor to officers of the Student Education Association (SEA)
Location:
Webster Groves Campus-WEBG
Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree in a discipline housed in the SOE with an academic record commensurate with appointment as full professor.
A strong record of leadership, reflecting growing responsibilities and significant achievements, with evidence of a team-oriented and entrepreneurial leadership style.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability in visionary, strategic planning which includes convening multiple constituencies, building consensus, and implementing initiatives with proven results
- Strong administrative and managerial skills, with experience working with complex systems and organizations
- Experience in fiscal planning and in developing and effectively managing and implementing budgets
- A global mindset and commitment to building the next generation of global citizens
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity
- Experience in fundraising
- Demonstrated ability to understand, support, and work effectively with faculty and staff, build and motivate leadership teams, earn the trust of others, hold others accountable, and share and celebrate success
