Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Alabama) invites applications for the position of Instructor of English to begin August 1, 2026. This is a non-tenure-track position, requiring a 30-credit-hour teaching load (typically five courses per semester) of face-to-face teaching of a range of courses contributing to the General Education program. The bulk of the teaching load is freshman composition.
Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, especially in teaching first-year college students, and a strong commitment to ethical behavior and professionalism. Required Qualifications: An earned MA in English or a closely related field. Applicants with an earned PhD in English may be considered for a tenure-track appointment; any specialty would be appropriate, but opportunities to teach upper-level courses in the major are limited.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching undergraduate core courses (Composition, Introduction to Literature).
- Competence in multiple disciplines highly preferred.
