The Role
We are seeking a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering to support teaching, curriculum delivery, and student supervision across our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Civil Engineering courses. This permanent position covers key subject areas including land surveying, construction materials, group design projects, and elements of highway and transport engineering.
You will:
- Deliver high-quality, research-informed teaching across a range of civil engineering modules, which might include a range of specialities.
 - Contribute to course design, accreditation, and continuous improvement activities.
 - Undertake and publish research or applied projects that strengthen the School’s research profile.
 - Provide academic leadership and mentorship to colleagues and students.
 - Engage with industry and professional bodies to enhance employability, research, and knowledge exchange.
 
The role is based within a collaborative academic team, and you will play a key part in maintaining a high-quality, professionally focused student experience.
The Person
You will have:
- A PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, and/or significant industry experience.
 - Practical expertise in land surveying would be preferred, with proficiency in relevant tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GNSS, GIS).
 - Teaching or training experience in higher education or industry.
 - A strong grasp of UK construction standards and current engineering practices.
 - The ability to contribute to teaching, curriculum development, and supervision of student projects.
 
You will be a team-oriented individual with strong communication skills, a commitment to student support, and the ability to deliver high-quality applied teaching within a professionally aligned academic environment.
