New Mexico State University Grants, (located in Cibola County in Northwest New Mexico) has an opening for Vice President of Student Services Level 10, (40 hours per week, Monday – Friday) Salary rate $85,000-$105,000. Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in higher education administration or related field Required Education: Master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling, or a related field No Equivalency

Preferred education and experience:

  • Doctorate in higher education leadership, administration, or related field.
  • Experience working in a rural community college setting.
  • Knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations, including Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, Federal Financial Aid, and the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Experience with grant writing and securing external funding.

The Vice President of Student Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all student support functions, including admissions, recruiting, academic advising, financial aid, veterans’ benefits, tutoring, testing, ADA accommodations, student conduct, campus safety, and student life. This role is responsible for developing and implementing innovative strategies to strengthen student recruitment, retention, engagement, and overall success. The Vice President ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations while managing departmental budgets, supervising professional staff, and promoting a student-centered culture of equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Collaboration is key—working closely with Academic Affairs, Business Services, and community partners to advance the college’s mission and enhance the student experience. Ideal candidates will bring strong leadership, communication, fiscal management, and data-informed decision-making skills, along with a passion for fostering an engaging, safe, and a supportive campus environment.
