Concordia College (Moorhead, Minnesota), invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Percussion (tenure-track) starting August, 2026.
Duties include leading the percussion studio (both music majors and non-majors, graduate students as well as undergraduates), including recruiting and guiding students to competitive success in the field; teaching percussion lessons, percussion techniques, and jazz and commercial drum set; coaching percussion chamber music and conducting marimba choir and percussion ensemble; and overseeing the growth and development of the Concordia Drumline.
The successful candidate will possess unique musical and teaching skills that will complement and further advance Concordia’s vision for the 21st-century musician; bring versatility, innovation, and imagination to shaping the percussion area; exemplify a collaborative musician, teacher, and colleague; exhibit strong interpersonal skills to further elevate the music department’s level of performance and community engagement; and promote innovative and inclusive practices in programming, instruction, and recruitment on behalf of the studio, department, and college.
The Music Department at Concordia College (NASM accredited) is the largest single department on campus, with 40 faculty and more than 1/4 of the entire student body participating in vocal and instrumental lessons and ensembles. The department maintains an excellent reputation throughout the region, with nearly 200 students majoring in music each year, many of whom pursue careers in music education, while others pursue graduate school and/or careers in performing or creative activity. The post-graduation employment rate for music education majors pursuing jobs in the field is extremely high, and many graduates go on to achieve graduate degrees at leading national institutions.
Concordia College is a private, co-educational, baccalaureate liberal arts college of approximately 2,000 students and 150 faculty. Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in percussion performance
- At least three years of university teaching
- National/international reputation as a percussionist
- Expertise in marimba, Latin/world percussion, jazz/commercial drum set, and general percussion
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience composing and arranging for marimba choir
- Experience teaching graduate students

Salary – $56,000 – $65,500 annually
The final salary will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and alignment with the position’s requirements. Other considerations may include internal equity and market conditions.
