Description
The CAS Dean’s office is seeking an experienced Highlands faculty member to join its team effective January 5, 2026. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and student success. The Associate Dean will exemplify these key traits: innovation, collaboration, communication skills, attention to detail, grasp of academic policies, organization, and trust.
The Associate Dean receives two course releases a semester (teaches 12 credits over fall and spring). The Associate Dean is eligible to teach in the summer at the overload rate. The position is open to all full-time faculty at Highlands. Upon resignation or dismissal, the Associate Dean retains their faculty appointment and will receive base salary including any applicable raises. The initial appointment will be from January 5, 2026 until August 14, 2025 (at which time the position may be renewed).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of Administrative Assistants and other staff direct reports to the Dean.
- Assist Dean in reviewing the approved and submitted department schedules.
- Assist with processing undergraduate and graduate paperwork such as academic petitions, schedule changes, key requests, independent studies, advanced credit forms, add/drop forms etc.
- Maintaining outcomes assessment data for programs/majors.
- Helping to identify faculty professional development opportunities (grants, workshops, conferences etc).
- Help facilitate student success activities-internships, leadership, service.
- Budget monitoring.
- Help facilitate interdepartmental communication.
- Serves on behalf of the Dean as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements:
All full-time NMHU faculty members are eligible to apply for this position. This position requires a regular in-person presence on the Las Vegas campus. This position is 51% administration and 49% faculty.
