Position Summary:

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in Small Animal Internal Medicine (SAIM)-a role that blends clinical excellence, teaching, and scholarly growth in a top academic program.

Youll be part of a dynamic SAIM team that plays a vital role in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), managing complex cases and delivering cutting-edge care to companion animals. The faculty in Small Animal Internal Medicine take great pride in providing a collegial work environment and outstanding house officer training. We support the Teaching Hospital (VTH) by providing care that is integral to the hospitals daily operations, providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic expertise for companion animals, and are a highly valued member of the VTH community. In this position, you will be asked to provide up to 34 weeks of clinical service on the SAIM service and teach and mentor DVM students, interns, and residents in the clinical and classroom settings. You will also be encouraged to engage in scholarly development and collaborative clinical research. This is a three-year contract appointment with the potential for renewal or transition into a continuing faculty line.

Required Job Qualifications:

• DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.
• Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine by date of appointment commencement
• Demonstrated interest in clinical education of students, interns, and residents in the diagnosis and management of small animal internal medicine cases.
• Eligibility for academic veterinary licensure in the State of Colorado

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in an academic clinical setting or those with advanced clinical training
• Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated aptitude in clinical or didactic teaching of house officers and/or DVM students

Duty/Responsibility

• Clinical Assignment (half credited to instruction, advising and mentoring) – Provide up to 34 weeks of clinical effort per year to the Small Animal Internal Medicine service at Colorado State University. This includes active instruction of junior and senior veterinary medical students and participation in the clinical training of interns and residents rotating through the small animal internal medicine service.
• Didactic Assignment- Provide lecture and laboratory instruction to DVM and graduate students on topics related to small animal internal medicine.

• Administrative: Participate in Departmental, College, and University administrative committees as well as active participation in the organization and implementation of the goals for the Small Animal Internal Medicine of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital
