Position Description & Details
Bismarck State College is seeking an Assistant Dean who is dedicated to serving as a strong advocate for students and promoting their success. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all academic programs, both credit and non-credit, as well as operational activities within the assigned departments. - Academic Program Oversight: Take charge of all academic programs within the assigned departments, ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with BSC’s mission and goals.
- Staff Assignments and Scheduling: Collaborate with the Academic Dean to prepare and optimize staff assignments, course schedules, and faculty workloads.
- Faculty Recruitment and Development: Work closely with the Academic Dean to recruit, mentor, develop, evaluate, and retain both full-time and adjunct faculty.
- Curriculum Development: Supervise the development and implementation of new programs and curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry and workforce needs.
- Academic Innovation: Drive academic innovation, continuous quality improvement, and academic assessment to support student success and achieve strategic goals.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership for accreditation efforts, K-12 partnerships, and Business and Industry Leadership Teams (BILTs) public-private partnerships.
- Recruitment and Retention: Contribute to meeting the college’s strategic recruitment, enrollment, retention, and completion goals.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and four years of related administrative experience.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting and achieving student success outcomes.
- Effective management, leadership, supervisory, organizational, budgeting, and planning skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with faculty, administration, staff, and other support areas.
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to promote the college mission and vision to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in preparing reports and documents.
- Proficiency with computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite-Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.) and strong Internet familiarity.
- Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and meet assigned deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Experience with curriculum and course development, distance/online education, academic assessment, and prior learning outcomes.
- Experience teaching at the college level in online and face-to-face modalities.
- Experience working in the energy industry.
- Experience working in a higher education environment with recruitment, enrollment, retention, completion, and instructional management experience.
