Job Description:

The Department of Electrical Technology at SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a talented and experienced Assistant Professor to join our team for the Fall 2026 semester.

We are looking for a highly qualified individual to teach and mentor students in our Electrical Technology program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Electrical Technology or Mechatronics, with expertise in areas such as circuit analysis, electronics, and control systems.

As an Assistant Professor, you’ll be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and contributing to the department’s outreach activities. We want to hear from you if you’re passionate about sharing your knowledge and expertise with the next generation of engineers!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and update course syllabi, assignments, and assessments in alignment with department goals and industry standards.
  • Use innovative teaching methods, including online, hybrid, and in-person instruction, to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Provide academic support and mentorship to students, including advising, tutoring, and career guidance.
  • Maintain an inclusive classroom environment that supports students from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.
  • Participate in department meetings, curriculum development, and college-wide committees and initiatives.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechatronics and integrate relevant industry trends into the curriculum.
  • Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and remain knowledgeable in your area of expertise.

 

Requirements:

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field is required.
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience, or appropriate combination of teaching, relevant work experience, and scholarly activity.
  • Applicants should be comfortable in the learner-centered classroom and have a strong commitment to the community college mission.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Additional Information:

The minimum annual salary for this position is $56,606. Salary offer will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
