- Class Description
- CCBC is currently seeking a full-time faculty member prepared to teach various courses in Psychology. Fifteen credit hours of instruction per semester, office hours, college and community service, and ongoing professional development are required. The position is located on the Catonsville or Essex campus but may require teaching classes online, at high schools, or at other campus locations scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends.
Preference will be given to candidates who present evidence of excellence in teaching, commitment to student learning, use of best teaching practices, and work experience at the Community College level. Applicants should demonstrate an ability to teach Introduction to Psychology and Human Growth and Development and show an interest in Multicultural Psychology, Human Sexuality, Abnormal Psychology, and/or Psychobiology. - Minimum Requirements
- Required
Thirty credits toward a graduate degree in Psychology; experience working with diverse student populations; experience with the use of technology in teaching; and familiarity with quality assurance practice for online learning.
Preferred
Masters or Doctorate Degree in Psychology; two years’ experience teaching at the post-secondary level; some community college teaching experience; demonstrated ability to teach and/or develop online courses; participation in professional conferences and workshops.

- Class Specific Essential Duties

- Provide fifteen hours of instruction and/or reassigned time per semester.
- Maintain office hours and keep scheduled appointments with students.
- Come to class on time and prepared, using instructional time fully and effectively.
- Prepare, distribute, and submit course syllabi according to all college or school guidelines; document and distribute any changes in a syllabus to the students and school.
- Respond to phone calls, e-mails, and other communications in a timely manner that is in accordance with response times documented in course syllabi.
- Provide effective and appropriate assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.
- Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.
- Meet college, school, department, or course expectations for administration of assessment instruments and record-keeping.
- Support students and other college units.
- Attend scheduled meetings for Program/Discipline, Department, and School.
- Attend college-wide meetings.
- Maintain the required minimum Learning Management System (LMS) presence.
- Maintain proficiency in technology as required by individual departments.
- Submit Annual Professional Summary and Performance Evaluation Form for Faculty each year. Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned.
