Salary Information

The starting salary is $54,317 – $79,218 commensurate with related work experience and education in accordance with the Salary Schedule in Article 26 of the UFF Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Responsibilities

The standard contract length is 228 days; however, other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs.

DESCRIPTION:

Faculty responsibilities will include teaching and support of student learning; curriculum development; support of college policies and procedures; participation in department and college activities and committees; and engagement with external partners and the community at large. Works in a classroom/lab environment with a diverse student population. Works in a variety of clinical agencies including hospitals; long-term care facilities and community agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Coordinates with Program Manager to plan organize and instruct Nursing classes.

2. Works with other faculty to evaluate, revise and develop curriculum to help ensure the students mastery of course competencies utilizing personalized materials as appropriate.

3. Available for student counseling in matters relating to academic progress through posted office hours.

4. Works with staff in implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy and procedures.

5. Engages and nurtures students in and beyond the classroom.

6. Participates in staff development and committee work as requested.

7. Contributes to a collegial and collaborative work environment.

8. Participates in flexible scheduling as requested.

9. Develops course syllabi, examinations, study guides, case studies, and related assignments that correlated with theory classes.

10. Collaborates with the program manager to plan clinical and lab experiences, evaluation tools, clinical schedules, and computer orientations at clinical sites. This requires travel to clinical sites.

11. Participates in skill lab demonstrations, practice and testing of students.

12. Provides and coordinates clinical teaching activities in the hospital/clinical setting to include student assignments, clinical supervision of students, and evaluations. This requires the ability to move about the clinical setting.

13. Provides and coordinates clinical teaching activities in selected community settings.

14. Plans and participates in recruitment campaigns and incorporates teaching strategies that foster student learning, success, and retention.

15. Maintains professional working relationship with community and clinical sites by attending in-service training updating of policies and procedures, workshops, and by providing student lists to clinical agencies.

16. Makes use of professional growth opportunities, including but not limited to, the SSC Faculty Institute for Teaching and Learning.

17. Becomes actively involved with the community the college serves, including the K-12 system; higher education institutions; chambers of Commerce; economic development groups; and/or non-profit, business, and industry partners.

18. Performs other relevant responsibilities and requested. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, ordering and maintaining necessary supplies and equipment and participating in discipline related student activities (e.g. Brain bowl).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate hours in Nursing.

2. Proficiency to teach Nursing courses.

3. Nursing practice experience

4. Licensure to practice Nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or eligibility for an unencumbered Florida RN Licensure.

5. Current CPR certification.

  • Clinical sites may require additional requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Works in classroom, laboratory, and clinical environment.
