Responsibilities:

Watkins College of Art at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant
Professor beginning 8/1/26.

The primary job responsibilities for this position include a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate courses in
design from a human-centered perspective and collaborating with design and art faculty to grow and develop the BFA in Experiential Design.

The successful candidate will possess at
least two or three of the following requirements:

  • Strong portfolio in experiential graphic design, including wayfinding, spatial storytelling, exhibition design, and
    physical-digital interaction.
  • Experience in teaching/using Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and spatial/3D/Game design tools (SketchUp, Rhino,
    Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, etc.).
  • Proficiency across the UX process, including user research, concept development, prototyping, testing, and
    post-launch iteration.
  • Strong commitment to staying current with evolving industry practices, tools, and technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate (Design/Research/teach) from an interdisciplinary perspective.
  • Commitment to creating inclusive, accessible spaces for all students.
  • Motion graphics (After Effects) and digital media integration are a plus.

Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarly activity, and college and university service.

Required EducationA Ph.D., M.F.A. (Graphic Design, Experiential Design, Environmental Design, Human-Computer Interaction) or progress toward a terminal degree is required.

Required ExperienceTeaching experience is strongly preferred.
