Eckerd College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director of Career Education to join our Career Center team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. In this role, the Assistant Director of Career Education will serve as a career advisor, supervise career advising staff, and lead Career Center programs related to career education, advising, and readiness.

The role requires the incumbent to possess exceptional skills in successfully developing relationships with internal and external constituencies as well as advanced technology skills including managing databases. The ability to engage the student body and successfully develop relationships to support their career success is crucial to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop annual career education programs that advance the early career success of all Eckerd students.
  • Implement programs that integrate career and professional development into academic and co-curricular experiences.
  • Train, supervise, and develop a team of full-time professional career advisors and student career assistants.
  • Perform outreach to and advise students and recent graduates through all phases of career development by applying student and career development theories and researched best practices in liberal arts career education.
  • Connect students directly to internships, research experiences, employers, alumni, graduate programs, entrepreneurship resources, and mentors.
  • Partner with faculty mentors and campus offices on interventions that ensure cohesive and personalized student support and career success.
  • Direct students to campus resources that support student retention and academic success.
  • Utilize and manage Symplicity CSM software (TritonTrack) to document student advising interactions, career plans, and participation in Career Center programs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in student development, career development, higher education, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in career advising, academic advising, or related direct role delivering individual services.
  • Actively holds or obtains within six months of employment a career facilitation/coaching/counseling related credential (e.g., GCDF, CCSP, CMCS, CCC, BCC, NCC, LMHC, LCSW).
