Job Description
The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (PENS) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track position in Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall 2026. Applications are encouraged from all areas of chemistry, although applicants with expertise in biochemistry, broadly defined, including bioinorganic chemistry, physical biochemistry, neurochemistry, and metabolic biochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program involving both graduate (MS) and undergraduate students. They will also be expected to teach both introductory and advanced courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels in chemistry and other labs and courses as needed. The candidate will be expected to participate in service at the university, state, and national level, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and other duties as assigned.
Currently the Chemistry Program is part of the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (PENS). It offers both undergraduate and graduate (MS) degrees in chemistry. PENS is also home to programs in Atmospheric Science (BS), Coastal and Marine System Science (MS, PhD), Environmental Science (BS, MS), Geology (BS), and Physics (BS). However, beginning in fall of 2026, TAMU-CC will establish the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Chemistry or a closely related field. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered; the degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity including peer-reviewed publications in leading journals in the field
- Strong oral and written communication skills for teaching and scholarship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral experience
- University-level teaching experience is highly desirable

$7,777.78 – $8,555.56 Approx. Monthly ($70,000- $77,000 Approximately annual)
