Blackburn College, ranked #1 among baccalaureate colleges in Illinois and #20 nationwide by WashingtonMonthly, located in Carlinville, IL, invites applications for a full-time, teaching-focused, tenure-trackposition in Accounting to teach undergraduate courses in Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting,Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Cost Accounting, Federal Income Tax,Auditing, and Advanced Accounting, along with additional business or related courses aligned with theirexpertise. Blackburn College is a four-year liberal arts college known for its distinctive student-managedwork program.

Qualifications for the position include:
- CPA or CMA credential and/or MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting (required)
- Experience in the workforce
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level
The Woodson Center for Business and Economics Department at Blackburn College emphasizeshands-on, experiential learning that connects academic theory with practical application, preparingstudents for success in fields such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, entrepreneurship,and economics. Through a combination of classroom instruction, real-world projects, case studies,simulations, and field trips, students develop the analytical, technical, and communication skills thattoday’s employers value. As part of Blackburn’s unique student-managed work program, businessstudents gain professional experience by participating in campus operations, collaborating oncommunity-based projects, and managing real business functions, fostering leadership, teamwork, andaccountability. The Business and Economics Department cultivates a collaborative and inclusiveenvironment where faculty and students work closely together to apply business principles to real-worldchallenges, engage with local and regional organizations, and promote ethical and socially responsiblebusiness practices.
Position Requirements:
- Teach four (4) in-person courses per semester, based on need and faculty availability (flexibilityrequired)
- Advise students (typically after the first year in the position)
- Maintain scheduled, in-person office hours
- Attend Division meetings and regular Faculty Assembly meetings
- Assist with student recruitment efforts by meeting with incoming students
- Provide service to the College through committee membership (typically after the first year inthe position)
- Participate in and help plan field trips and co-curricular activities for the Department
- Supervising Teaching Assistants
- Demonstrated knowledge of learning platforms such as Canvas, McGraw-Hill Connect,D2L/Brightspace, Blackboard to support effective course delivery
- Knowledgeable in using tax preparation software and other various accounting software,Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
Starting date of August 10, 2026, contract runs August 2026 to May 2027, paid over twelvemonths.

Salary Range: $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience.
