Assistant Professor – Medical Surgical Nursing

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach face-to-face, blended, and/or online courses and provide clinical supervision of pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN-BSN, and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) students with a focus on research and clinical practice with various populations in Medical Surgical Nursing settings
  • Utilize simulation and technology-based teaching/learning strategies
  • Participate in curricular assessment, revision, and evaluation
  • Engage in student recruitment, retention, and mentoring
  • Participate in committee work, public service, and professional organizations

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN); Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university; Missouri Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), with Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) certification is a plus
  • Current, unrestricted RN (Registered Nurse) license in Missouri, multi-state or eligibility for Missouri licensure
  • Teaching nursing experience within the last three years, including theory or clinical instruction, in a faculty or preceptor role
  • Recent clinical experience in nursing within the last three years (faculty or staff); Recent experience in Medical Surgical Nursing settings a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and the community
