Job description
The Assistant Professor of Pastry will hold a faculty appointment and have academic and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Community College of Rhode Island. The newly developed Culinary Craftsmanship program is a two-year associate degree program with a one-year stackable certificate in Culinary Essentials. The Assistant Professor will be responsible for assisting with the overall operation and educational quality of the program.

- Teach appropriate courses within the program maintaining food safety and quality standards
Departmental Support:
- Assist in developing scheduling for the program including staffing of adjuncts as needed
- Participate in departmental and college-wide activities
- Demonstrate commitment to collaboration and collegiality
- Participate in the hiring process of additional faculty for the department
- Assure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
- Manage and perform ordering for all necessary supplies for classrooms within department
- Assist in managing budgeting and other fiscal responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum to maintain industry and academic standards and expectations
- Other duties as required
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Minimum of 3 years industry and/or Pastry Arts teaching experience
- Food Safety Manager Certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in related field
- Related industry certification
- Supervisory experience
- Teaching experience in culinary or pastry
- Bilingual
