The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at DCC invites applications for a Tenure-Track faculty position in Mathematics specializing in Business Applications. This position has an expected start date in August 2026.

The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science is dedicated to student learning and is not a research-focused department. The successful candidate will have a desire to work with students daily and will be expected to contribute to departmental discussions about how to improve the teaching and learning process at the college.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Teach classes in mathematics courses for business students and introductory statistics, as well as other courses.
• Develop and revise course curricula to reflect current industry trends and academic standards.
• Incorporate technology and experiential learning into classroom instruction.
• Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and student club activities, and engage in campus community events.
• Participate in assessment activities and professional development.
• Contribute to program development through curriculum improvement, recruitment efforts, and community outreach.
• Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Official transcripts required upon hire.
• College level teaching experience.
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching mathematics and statistics.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• An appreciation for diversity for all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at a community college
• Experience teaching college algebra with business applications and calculus for business, with the ability to integrate office suite software into business applications in each of these courses
• Experience teaching introductory statistics (using simulation-based inference methods) and traditional calculus.
• Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners.
• Teaching experience includes both in-person and online modalities.
• An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education.
• Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.
• Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.

Classification:

• Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Tenure-Track Full-Time Teaching Educator
• Full-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).

Salary:

$68,145 – $88,601, commensurate with experience and terminal degree.
