The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at DCC invites applications for a Tenure-Track faculty position in Mathematics specializing in Business Applications. This position has an expected start date in August 2026.
The Department of Mathematics & Computer Science is dedicated to student learning and is not a research-focused department. The successful candidate will have a desire to work with students daily and will be expected to contribute to departmental discussions about how to improve the teaching and learning process at the college.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Teach classes in mathematics courses for business students and introductory statistics, as well as other courses.
- Develop and revise course curricula to reflect current industry trends and academic standards.
- Incorporate technology and experiential learning into classroom instruction.
- Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in department meetings, college-wide committees, and student club activities, and engage in campus community events.
- Participate in assessment activities and professional development.
- Contribute to program development through curriculum improvement, recruitment efforts, and community outreach.
- Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Official transcripts required upon hire.
- College level teaching experience.
- Knowledge of best practices in teaching mathematics and statistics.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- An appreciation for diversity for all types and how diversity impacts learning and instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching at a community college
- Experience teaching college algebra with business applications and calculus for business, with the ability to integrate office suite software into business applications in each of these courses
- Experience teaching introductory statistics (using simulation-based inference methods) and traditional calculus.
- Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners.
- Teaching experience includes both in-person and online modalities.
- An understanding and appreciation of the role of the community college in higher education.
- Experience in using instructional technology in the classroom and a willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.
- Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS) such as Brightspace, Blackboard, or Canvas.

- Dutchess United Educators (DUE), Tenure-Track Full-Time Teaching Educator
- Full-Time faculty positions are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Dutchess Community College (DCC) and Dutchess United Educators (DUE).
Salary:
$68,145 – $88,601, commensurate with experience and terminal degree.
