Job Description

The Department of Political Science at Ohio University invites applications for one or more renewable Assistant Professor of Instruction (non-tenure-track) positions in American Politics to start in Fall 2026. This position is renewable annually depending upon available funding, performance, and continuing departmental need. The successful candidate(s) will provide teaching and service support to the department, centered on offering our curriculum for American civic literacy, and will teach courses that will include Introduction to U.S. Politics, American Politics, Policy, and Administration, and upper-level courses in their area of specialization.

We seek candidates who share the department’s commitment to teaching excellence.

The standard course workload for instructional faculty in Political Science is 4-4. Instructional faculty at Ohio University may be eligible for promotion and multi-year contracts based on periodic performance evaluations and evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate(s) will hold a Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field at the time of appointment and will have demonstrated teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with innovative teaching pedagogy, online instruction, or leadership in interdepartmental curricular planning is an asset.
